Shattered Fables™ – Glimpse into a Living World

Welcome to the Shattered Fables™ – Drafts & Development Showcase. This is my curated space to give you a window into the world I’ve been building—both the tangible cards and the deeper systems beneath them. It’s not a full reveal, and it’s not meant to be. But it is a look into the strategy, creativity, and design philosophy behind a fantasy TCG where lore matters, mechanics breathe, and every detail serves a purpose.

🌌 The World of Shattered Fables™

Shattered Fables™ is the branching multiverse that connects every project I’m developing—most notably the tactical trading card game Echoes of an Arcane Genesis, and its sister storyline currently being written into the graphic novel The Fractured Arcane – A Rogue Wizard’s Tale.

The world of Mithvael stands on the broken edge of a magical collapse. Power once flowed like breath through the land—until a cyclical fracture shattered realms and splintered time itself. Now, echoes of the old world stir. Ruins reactivate. Wilds roam untamed. And Avatars—chosen champions of Light, Neutral, or Dark alignments—gather their forces in an effort to reclaim, rebuild, or rewrite the future.

Victory isn’t always earned through brute force. Sometimes it’s about reawakening what was lost. Battlegrounds, once sites of immense power, now serve as both the opening zones for skirmishes and final destinations for victory, where level 6 conditions shape the fate of a match. (The Abandoned Armory card, shown here, is slated for revision to reflect this updated win condition structure.)

🃏 Avatar & Battleground Highlights

Evincor Avatar card front and back – Dwarven warrior hero from Shattered Fables™ TCG
Evincor, a stalwart Dwarf Warrior, anchors formations with unmatched resilience. As his levels rise, he redirects damage, equips stronger gear, and becomes a game-winning force if the Capitol is held.

EvincorDwarven Bastion of the Capitol: Forged in the heart of ancestral stonework, Evincor leads not by speed, but by sheer resilience. His ability to absorb and redirect punishment makes him the anchor of any formation. Through escalating armor boosts and critical counterstrikes, he turns defense into a relentless offense.

Luness Avatar card front and back – Flame-wielding Elf Wizard from Shattered Fables™ TCG
Luness, a firebound scholar and tactical spellcaster, warps across the battlefield, scorches her enemies, and seizes victory through control or dragon-slaying feats.

LunessFlamebound Scholar: Cloaked in living fire and arcane ink, Luness weaves battlefield control with unorthodox mobility. Her teleportation rituals and fire-laced attacks turn chokepoints into pyres. When dragons fall or boundaries collapse, she’s often the last one standing.

Werg Avatar card front and back – Cunning Goblin Rogue from Shattered Fables™ TCG
Werg manipulates the battlefield with goblin swarm tactics, evasive combat tricks, and recursive resurrection strategies to overwhelm his enemies.

WergThe Goblin Who Outlasted Death: Schemer, shadow, and swarm-caller. Werg manipulates graveyards, clones his own demise, and punishes overreach with pawn-summoning tricks. He’s a rogue that thrives in chaos—especially when goblins multiply faster than foes can react.

Elder Dragon Avatar card showing Wild and Allied forms – Shattered Fables™ TCG
The Elder Dragon serves as both an untamed force of chaos and a powerful ally—depending on how it enters the battlefield in Shattered Fables™.

Elder DragonJudgment of the Old Cycles: A two-sided threat drawn from the Untamed Wilds or summoned in alliance. In Wild form, it scorches the land with randomized fury. In Allied form, it commands the skies, repels enemy advances, and defines the tempo of endgame battles.

Abandoned Armory battleground card from Shattered Fables™ TCG showing alternate win condition and equipment play rule
A ruined stronghold from the old world, the Abandoned Armory enables open equipment use—and serves as a powerful win condition site in Shattered Fables™.

Abandoned ArmoryA Crumbling Keystone: Once a stronghold of lost empires, this ruined site now marks the shifting fulcrum of a match. As a starting zone and potential level 6 victory site, it’s both origin and destination—soon to be updated to match full Battleground structure.

Each card uses a shared visual language—colored borders for faction, elemental symbols, and RP/AP resource indicators. These current visuals represent my most recent round of concept card designs—created several months before completing the Photoshop segment of my design training. As I continue to refine my skills and visual system, I plan to fully upgrade these card images and replace many of the current symbols to better reflect their finalized identity.

✨ Campaign Adventure Spell & Potion Highlights

As part of the simplified Adventure format, I’ve also included six spell and potion cards designed to ease players into tactical effects and fantasy logic through accessible dice-driven resolution.

  • Fireball and Lightning Bolt spell cards from the Shattered Fables™ campaign adventure set
Classic offensive spells from the Shattered Fables™ Adventure format. Fireball delivers splash damage across enemy formations, while Lightning Bolt offers direct, focused power.
  • Fireball: Spellbook Page #62 — This volatile spell rolls for direct damage, then cascades through all enemy units connected to the target. A classic fantasy blast with expanding impact.
  • Lightning Bolt: Spellbook Page #29 — Pure, focused energy. No scatter. No lingering effect. Just a single, devastating strike that reminds foes to never stand alone.
  • Potion of Agility: This swirling elixir heightens reaction time, offering a dodge roll to slip past flying attacks and aerial threats.
  • Potion of Firebreathing: A favorite among reckless warriors—one sip, and your next attack erupts in area-of-effect destruction.
  • Potion of Healing: A warm-glow tonic that restores HP through a simple roll mechanic. Straightforward, essential, and trusted.
  • Potion of Illusions: Temporarily alters your elemental alignment for the rest of the adventure. A strategic wildcard and narrative curveball alike.

These cards reinforce my belief that even the smallest action—whether a spellbook page or a humble vial—should tell a story, shape a choice, or change the flow of fate.

⚙️ Mechanics I’m Willing to Share

While many of my systems are still under wraps for IP protection reasons, here are a few things I am comfortable sharing now:

1. Elemental Damage Types Units and spells may deal damage aligned with elemental forces: Fire, Frost, Nature, Light, and Dark. These elemental types play into both synergy and battlefield advantage, influencing spell effects, affinity interactions, and resistances behind the scenes.

2. Initiative + Movement System Combat in Shattered Fables™—particularly in the Grid format—is driven by initiative values. Units act in descending order each turn, and Movement dictates their ability to reposition, escape, or engage. It rewards formation strategy and timing.

3. Damage Roll Resolution Instead of flat damage values, many effects and attacks rely on a 1d6 roll, modified by circumstances. Critical hits, misses, and basic +/- modifiers shape outcomes cleanly and intuitively.

4. Beastmaster & Arena Master Roles For casual players, newcomers, or narrators, these roles offer a low-stress way to engage with the game. Rather than influencing win conditions directly, they roll for Wild unit actions or draw and resolve randomized encounter cards using AI-inspired logic. These roles are perfect for storytelling-minded players or those looking to ease into the system before taking control of full squads—and also let defeated players rejoin the game world in meaningful, narrative ways.

🌍 Worldbuilding That Breathes

All gameplay stems from a fractured, post-magic-collapse world where relics carry memory, and the land itself remembers old wars. Codex entries—like those for Avatars, Biomes, and Regions—are written from within the world, not about it. Even keywords have story-based synonyms to preserve immersion.

  • Fire is chaos reborn in the hands of battlecasters.
  • Frost carries the weight of long-dormant pacts.
  • Nature listens, hungering to retake what was paved.
  • The Wilds teem with beasts that may serve—or turn.

Victory may come through war… or through unlocking what lies beneath ancient ground.

🎨 A Note on Visual Identity

The current previews reflect my most recent image concepts but will be revised and upgraded. Since completing Adobe Photoshop certification, I’ve begun restructuring and improving my visual templates. Future revisions will include updated iconography, enhanced layer integration, and a unified aesthetic that better matches the narrative tone of Shattered Fables™.

I’ve also created six Codex-style visual entries for the Rogue Wizard—my narrative protagonist—which preview how I plan to format full character entries for Avatars, Beasts, and Spellbook pages moving forward.

This showcase is not only for players and fans, but also for visual collaborators. If you’re an artist, designer, or fantasy worldbuilder, and you see a place for your work in this universe—reach out.

🧙‍♂️How I Use AI to Build My Fantasy IP: The Shattered Fables™ Project

A Transparency Statement by Rogue Wizard LLC

Quick Summary (for new visitors):

  • How AI helps me create my fantasy world
  • My ethical commitments and creative background
  • Plans to collaborate with artists and writers
  • My personal story and what Shattered Fables™ means to me

Overview & Intent The Shattered Fables™ project is a long-term multimedia fantasy IP that I, as an independent creator, have developed over many years. This includes a full-featured TCG/roleplaying hybrid system, expansive narrative worldbuilding, and a branching graphic novel. AI tools have become essential to accelerating that creative process, especially while operating solo or with limited resources. This document explains how I use AI tools, where human collaboration fits in, and how I strive to ensure ethical use throughout the project.

How I Use AI Tools

1. Visual Design & Image Generation
I use AI-assisted image tools through ChatGPT Plus (GPT-4o), Adobe Creative Cloud, and previously Playground AI. These tools help me:

  • Generate concept art, visual assets, and fantasy scenes to bring my ideas to life.
  • Transform digital Photoshop designs or hand-drawn outlines (often created by myself or my partner, an aspiring tattoo artist) into more polished, stylized assets.
  • Explore design direction and expand visual identity without relying on large budgets.

Note: Sometimes I work from hand-drawn outlines, sometimes from Photoshop sketches, and sometimes directly from written prompts. I do not use AI to copy or impersonate other artists’ work. Each image reflects my creative intent and design structure.

Want to see early-stage examples? A curated preview of in-development card designs, spell/potion mockups, and modular rule sets will be shared soon at:

2. Game Design & Documentation
GPT-4o is a vital collaborator in:

  • Structuring and revising rulesets for my TCG and campaign systems.
  • Assisting in formatting immersive Codex entries.
  • Refining ability comparisons and stat balance systems.

I set all core parameters, mechanics, and intent. AI helps me iterate faster, but the vision and strategy remain mine.

3. Narrative & Lore Development
I use AI to:

  • Expand multiverse branches, character arcs, and lore threads.
  • Maintain consistency across hundreds of entries and plot nodes.
  • Organize longform writing drafts into readable narrative formats.

Note on Writing: With ADHD and mental health challenges, I often over-explain or repeat ideas. I use AI to help me polish, clarify, and clean up dense drafts. I create the structure, character tone, and narrative choices—but AI helps manage format and readability.

4. Prototyping, Marketing & Community Tools
AI assists with:

  • Website copy, promotional blurbs, and lore-focused blog posts.
  • Drafting simplified rulebooks for playtesting.
  • Building the structure for Discord and Patreon engagement tools.

Ethical Commitments & Personal Transparency

  • I am a solo creator with limited income, ongoing mental health struggles, and recent housing instability. I started using AI tools because they allowed me to produce more refined examples of my ideas without needing immediate funding.
  • In 2023, I made some beginner missteps trying to use AI-generated designs for early product mockups or fundraising. While not malicious, I understand how this might be viewed negatively by artists or design professionals.
  • These experiences led me to pursue professional graphic design training (Adobe Certifications, funded by Vocational Rehab), and restructure my creative practices for ethical growth.
  • I no longer see AI as a shortcut, but as a tool for accessibility and creative empowerment while I work toward human collaboration.
  • AI tools do not mean I am avoiding the work—they help me manage it. In April 2025 alone, I logged an estimated 260–280 hours of development time across 30+ documents, including game mechanics, story drafts, Codex entries, and collaborative planning tools. This work was logged and documented, for development use.

Lifelong Passion and Origins This project is the result of a lifelong dream. I began designing card games as a pre-teen. My earliest memories include games of Go Fish and Crazy 8s with my grandfather, which evolved into cribbage, rummy, and eventually poker. When I discovered Magic: The Gathering at a local comic shop, it changed everything—I knew from that moment that I wanted to create my own fantasy card game and universe.

I’ve spent over 25 years involved in the tabletop and video game industry. I’ve worked in game stores, managed trading card and RPG inventory, and helped organize and host tournaments and special events. I have always played fantasy RPGs and trading card games at a competitive level. I consistently place well in Magic tournaments when I compete locally, but due to family life, nerves, and mental health, I chose not to pursue professional competitive circuits. Instead, I shifted focus to event organizing and sales, which deepened my love for gaming communities.

My gaming background is extensive—from EverQuest and early DOTA custom maps, to League of Legends and Hearthstone (where I was an early beta tester). Dragon Age and Fallout remain my favorite modern series, while nostalgic gems like Zelda: A Link to the Past and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night shaped my creative taste. These experiences continue to influence my storytelling, mechanics, and world design.

Shattered Fables™ is that dream, made tangible. And though I still face personal and financial struggles, this project gives me direction, stability, and hope. It has helped me build structure during mental health challenges, and AI tools have helped me translate those ideas into polished, visible forms I can now share.

Commitment to Collaboration

  • I am actively building systems to credit, compensate, and collaborate with artists.
  • My Community Art Forge allows contributors to opt-in at various levels (including paid, royalty-based, or donated).
  • I intend to fundraise to hire local and emerging artists for final versions of my cards, Codex pages, and graphic novel art.
  • I also plan to extend this collaborative model to writers as the branching narrative grows beyond what I can manage alone.

Planned Transparency Features

  • A full AI disclosure page will be live on my official website.
  • Public documentation will show which works were AI-assisted, community-submitted, or professionally created.
  • Ongoing outreach to creative communities is part of my vision for open-world storytelling.

Closing Message AI helps me build the foundation of something much bigger than myself. But at its heart, Shattered Fables™ is about human stories, relationships, decisions, and community. I use these tools to share a world I believe in—not to cut corners or exclude the incredible talent of others.

If you’re an artist, writer, gamer, or creative who shares this vision, I invite you to reach out. Let’s create something magical together.
